Only if the plastic had to absorb the impact — and it doesn't. The arch turns horizontal force into vertical load and dumps it into the floor through a steel-footed column. Push harder and the foot grips harder. The reinforced ABS body holds geometry; it isn't fighting your bodyweight.
The sensor reads impact on the door, not movement in the room or noise in the hallway. Trolleys, footsteps and neighbouring doors don't trigger it. On a light-sleep night, switch the alarm off and the mechanical block still works exactly the same.
No screws, no adhesive, no drilling. A rubberised strip sits between the bracket and the paint, and a non-marring pad sits under the chrome foot. It comes off in two seconds and leaves the room exactly as you found it — which matters when someone else is holding your deposit.
Yes. The threaded column is the whole point — you twist down to close whatever gap the room gives you, from a thin dorm door on tile to a heavy fire door over mid-pile carpet. It fits inward-opening hinged doors, and is not designed for sliding or outward-opening doors.
The LED tells you before you fall asleep, not after something happens. Arm it and you get visible confirmation the sensor is live. The cell is user-replaceable, so a flat battery is a thirty-second fix rather than a dead product.
